Friends Cut!

HAD TO BE DONE - SORRY :(

[This post will be kept public for about a week before I f-lock it].

I don't think I've done a proper friends cut in a LONG, LONG, LONG time. But I thought it was due for one, since my f-list has gotten overly large.

Basically, my f-list has gone from 211 ->> 141, which means 70 of you were cut.

If you were cut, why:
+ Old journals (usually the new journals weren't cut, of course! XD)
+ Haven't updated your journal in a long time, or at all!
+ I looked at your username and thought, "Who the hell is that again?!" lol (sorry, true fact!)
+ You don't comment on my entries. Vice versa, I rarely comment on yours.
+ Similarly, I found myself skipping over your entries.
+ You only posted about quizzes/random stuff.
+ I didn't really know you very well, and didn't feel we had a lot in common.

I'm really sorry if you didn't think you deserved to be cut, but I have my reasons and I'm not going to take it back. I really hope nobody is offended - I honestly hate doing f-cuts :( Feel free to defriend me back, of course.

WHEN THE MOON FELL IN LOVE WITH THE SUN

If you haven't already, make sure you look at my previous post!!!

Ok this took me forever to type up! I didn't want to bore you with unnecessary details haha. I tried to condense it, but it ended up being a full blown recount lol. I included most of the other pics from Tiffany's Facebook. Expect to see a lot of unknown faces!

DAY ONE - Sunday, 6th April

Basically we left around 8 am. Everyone was on a bus with their site groups. As I've mentioned, I'm in the group Drain L, and there are 10 of us, including James, Chantel, Maree, Shayne etc. James sat right behind Chantel and I on the bus haha. It was a very long drive (about 4 hours). We had three stops on the way there, though.

In these next few paragraphs I'm sorta copying what I wrote in my field notebook about day one, but just added some things.

Upon arrival at Robe at around 2.30pm our group unloaded the bags and after a little relaxation Robert Aebi (he's the equipment officer, but he was with our group a lot of the time) took us for a walk to show us where we would be working on our five projects. We visited Drain L outlet (that's how our group got its name lol), walked along Long Beach and noted where the butterfly, millipedes and bridal creeper projects would take place.

When we came back from our walk we came across this little stray black kitten! It was rather cute, but we knew we couldn't let it near our camp. We have no idea where it came from. Maree (in the picture below) managed to grab hold of it and she walked up the path and plonked it in someone's garden and then ran for it lmfao XD We never saw it since *shrug*

We saw a Great Egret!

At around 5 pm we set up a transect for the Elliott traps and set them. We had been shown how to get animals out of the traps if we managed to find something in the morning, but I was nervous about actually doing it.

Our group was on dinner duties. Basically we chopped up veggies, made the salad, some people did the serving, and Chantel and I buttered LOADS of garlic butter onto bread lol. We also had the washing up to do, drying and putting them away. We claimed we were the best dish-washers ever XD!

Overall it was a long day as half of it was taken up by driving there. I was looking forward to bird-watching the next day. :) I decided to call it a night and went to have a shower, and then went into my dorm (shared with 7 other girls) and hopped under my sleeping bag. It took me a while to get to sleep, and I probably didn't get a whole lot of sleep, but I wasn't too bad in the morning.

DAY TWO - Monday, 7th April

I got up at the ungodly hour of about 5.20 am o_O Breakfast is served from 6 - 6.45 am, you see. It was cold outside, but there was a beautiful sunrise. I didn't eat much for brekky - I don't think my body was ready for food that early in the morning!

We started the Elliott traps at around 7 am. All we caught was house mice. They really smelt, but were kinda cute when you saw their faces lol!

At around 9.30 am we started our bridal creeper project. We dug little holes and had to measure the biomass of this plant underground, comparing it to above ground. There was one plot I had that had SO much underground bridal creeper it was insane LOL! James commented on it... I can't remember what he said now, but something like "you've done pretty well!" lol XD

We did the butterfly project at 12 pm, but I only have photos of the second day that we did this. It was tiring, but fun! Butterflies can be SO elusive!

Me, Tiffany, Rebecca and Riley decided to go down to the small estuary and do a bit of bird-watching.

We started the water quality project at 4 pm and went to two different sites. At the second site James, Maree and myself were required to put on waders and calculate the depth of the water, take water samples, record temperature and collect invertebrates in the water with nets. We look really funny wearing these :P

We had noodles and veggies for dinner that night I think, and everyone at Drain L crammed together on one little table! It was fun. I was right next to James :P

DAY THREE - Tuesday, 8th April

We did the Elliott traps again, and I was feeling jittery because I knew I had to do it eventually. At trap 12 I said I'd have a go. Well, the funny thing is, there were TWO mice in that trap! I was like OMFG! I was like, "it's my lucky day!" Rebecca handled one of them, whilst I did the other. It took a bit of patience, but I was fine handling it :) They were calling it the "J-mouse" lmao!

In the morning we were looking at the invertebrates under the microscopes. Tiffany took this photo because we were looking very "scientific" XD! It's me, Riley and James.

Ah, now we've come to the 2nd day of the butterfly capture!

I'm pretty sure it was this day that we took a drive down to Little Dip Conservation Park. This is where the group photo was taken.

Here are some shots of the rocks and the beach:

We started the dune vegetation project at about 3.50 pm. It went on for a while. When we were walking back up the beach, me, James and Maree stopped (we had a black plastic tub with us that we had to lug around) and the others went over the dunes. Eventually, Maree went to join them, and James asked if I was going to head back to camp since Rebecca wanted to do bait-balling, and there wasn't any need for us to stay there. I said, "Yeah I'll come with you." So yes folks, for a minute or two whilst we waited for Rebecca to join us, James and I were walking together on the beach, completely alone. Needless to say, I was so nervous lmfao. I didn't know what to say! There was silence, but then James asked me if I was gonna help bait the traps, and I said I probably would. Once Rebecca joined us it wasn't so awkward XD All three of us made up the bait balls and baited the traps well before the sun went down.

That evening our field notebooks were getting checked by our lecturer, and I was kinda stressing out. James was reassuring me. He was like, "you'll be fine,". And he said, "You've got diagrams and pictures and everything, it's fabulous, mine's only got text." I kind of died. I think I was blushing LOL! I didn't know what to say XD

Again, the Drain L-ers sat at the same table together that night. And again, I was right near James buhahahaa :P

DAY FOUR - Wednesday, 9th April

Did the traps for the last time this day. I handled my second mouse, and it was a female this time! I was proud of my efforts :)

We had to go out and do more of the dune vegetation, and we also did millipede density on the dunes. Shayne is always mucking around with James, and I dunno how he came to say it, but he teasingly said, "I think James is cute!" in this funny voice hahaha and awww James blushed!

I remember doing more invertebrate stuff that day, and oh my god, James looked SO incredibly tired it was adorable XD

Later that evening we had a chance to visit another group's site, in Bagdad Native Forest. On the way there, we saw beautiful yellow-tailed black cockatoos! I was practically dying and in bird heaven XD!

We witnessed a gorgeous sunset, unfortunately better witnessed in real life! This is Tiffany and Bec.

We then stopped at Cullen Reserve. YES, CULLEN!!! LMAO! No vampires, though :P It was dark by this time, and we got out our torches. We were going to see if we could find some wombats ^_^ James was walking behind me the WHOLE time practically! We got to a certain point and we turned all of our torches out and it was pitch black, and we were perfectly still, trying to listen, and we heard some scuffling :) I remember wondering how close James was behind me but I didn't want to look LOL! Once Topa turned her torch back on, we saw them. Well actually, they saw the wombats haha. From where James and I were standing, we couldn't really see anything :/ XD!!

DAY FIVE - Thursday, 10th April

Clean up day, basically! Nothing in particular happened. On the way back most of us fell asleep at some point. I was so buggered!

A few other random notes:
* My hand brushed quite a few times with James's when I was handing him things :P
* We were talking about Harry Potter at the dinner table one night, and Tiffany's a big fan too. I was like, "what house would you be in? I'd be a Hufflepuff for sure" lol. And she turned to James and said, "I think you'd be a Gryffindor, 'cause you're really quiet but when the time comes you'll just come out and be really brave." I was thinking, "OMG you just described Neville LOL!" but I didn't say it. And I think I was wearing my Nev shirt at the time, too. Quite a few people commented on that shirt :P
* Our group Drain L was just so awesome, I thought. I couldn't have asked to work with a better group of people. Shayne was constantly cracking jokes and we were always in fits of laughter. I must admit, when I got home on Thursday night I felt like I was going to cry because I knew I was going to miss that kinda company! I'd had such a good time. So many memories I'll take with me for a long time :)

Hope you enjoyed my recount and the pics! I'm not sure when I'll get Steve's pics - probably when we return to Uni. He said if we brought discs he could burn the photos on to them using his laptop. Stay tuned :) I definitely know there's a photo of all of us in the kitchen, and I'm making peace signs and James is giving thumbs up LOL!

In random news, Panic At The Disco's new album Pretty. Odd. is pretty awesome :P Different, but awesome! It's almost impossible to actually label them a particular genre lol. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the fact they took the exclamation mark out of their name! :(

And omg, Cut Copy are performing live on Rove this Sunday! *dies*

So, that's it! I'm really tired now. I keep closing my eyes and opening them again lmao XD! G'night all!

HELLO ALL, MISS ME?!

Okay making this VERY quick because I have to get up at 6.30 am tomorrow for a stupid GIS lecture (that unfortunately, is important) and I'm buggered as.

In short:

* It was SO fun, for the most part! The early starts were a bit crazy, though XD
* Our group of 10 ('Drain L') was just plain awesome. We all got along so well and were always laughing! I can't even count the amount of times I laughed. :)
* I almost want to do it again!

Oh, and I can't forget:

These were taken by one of our group members, Tiffany. She gave us a link to all these pics on her Facebook and I've asked her for the originals, so you'll have to deal with these low quality ones for now.

Me, yes that's me doing something LOL and James is sitting just there. It almost looks like he's looking at me :/ I'm not sure, though! We'd just been running around chasing butterflies!

James *le sigh* lmao. Taken today, the last day! Omg, I'm in the background of that one!! You can JUST see me lol. I'm blended in with Shayne a bit haha.

I feel slightly stalkerish posting that one but I mean, it's not like I stole it from his myspace :P These are on Facebook - public domain, yo XD

I'll post more (hopefully bigger ones) and try and recount most things in a post tomorrow. Hope you can wait that long! Nothing big happened, to be honest lol. But yes.

I missed you guys! <333 I don't think I have time to f-list properly. Gimme links to Twilight stuff, though :P I already checked out the Harry Potter stuff :)

15minuteficlets have a new word - #135, so of course I took up the challenge and began writing immediately.

Unfortunately I had written a lot, when my mum accidentally tripped the switch and the computer turned off and I hadn't saved it. So after a few (silly) tears I wrote something even better.

Thanks to dannydisco for reading this first and seeing if the lyrics actually fit LOL... I'm still a little worried. ;)

THE PERFECT KISS

Cedric Diggory laid his head in Hermione Granger’s lap as they sat underneath a shady tree, wishing the Tournament would be over soon. Hermione was playing with his dark wavy locks whilst Cedric closed his eyes in comfort.

“Yes I am… and for Harry, too. People… have died in this Tournament,”

“I know,” Cedric said quietly.

“I just...” Hermione couldn’t bring herself to say it. “I just don’t want you to… come out hurt, or not come out at all.” She muttered the last sentence.

Cedric opened his eyes at her remark, his solemn grey eyes gazing into her worried caramel ones.

“Granger, I appreciate your concern, but I’ve prepared for this. And no matter what happens in that task, I’ll make sure I get back to you - even if I’m missing an arm or a leg.” Cedric grinned at Hermione’s expression, and then sat up and crossed his legs.

“Oh Cedric,” Hermione whispered, throwing herself into his arms, “please be alright, and please make sure Harry is alright.”

“I will,” Cedric promised however unsure he was. He squeezed her gently before ending their embrace.

“You know I love you, don’t you?” Hermione said seriously, taking her hands in his.

Cedric nodded. “And I love you, Hermione,” he whispered before kissing her lips softly.

I can't believe I actually rose to this challenge... usually I'm no good at writing in a small amount of time because I don't have enough time to collect and distribute my thoughts... but I thought, "what the heck, let's do this!"

And so my first ever Cedric/Hermione is born! =D

Because I can't debate over it and constantly change parts of it, I'm not sure how I feel about it... but hopefully I get some good feedback.

EIGHT DEADLY SINS

Hermione Granger was aware of the seven deadly sins, being a Muggle had thus given her an advantage over pure-blooded families.

She tried to remember them; Lust, Gluttony, Sadness, Avarice, Anger, Envy, and Pride.

According to some, committing one of these sins was a one-way ticket to Hell. Hermione was not religious, but did not debate over if God existed or not. Surely sins could be forgiven… surely you could forgive someone who had been jealous of their best friend, or had an extreme dosage of unrequited love…

She turned her attention to a happy young man – his brilliant grey eyes shone like the moonlight whenever he laughed, and his dark hair tended to fall into his eyes at the most inapt moments. She wondered if he had committed any sins.

Cedric Diggory was everything a girl could ever ask for - good-looking, conscientious, loyal, benevolent, and unselfish, not to mention a model student. He could ask out any girl he wanted, and she would fall at the click of a finger. Then why in the world did he ask the quiet, bushy-haired bookworm to Hogsmeade with him?

Is that a sin? Hermione wondered silently.

Was it possible for someone so talented and popular to want something out of a slightly bossy 4th-year student who had nearly read every book in the library?

Perhaps there should have been eight deadly sins instead of seven.

But was there really any harm in enjoying engaging in frivolity of such kinds?

After all, Hermione really did enjoy the feeling of Cedric’s lips on hers.

I know some of these icons are a bit.. bland... but that's because I'm a major experimentor when it comes to Photoshop -- I love doing "random" creations. A little constructive criticism wouldn't hurt, either, so don't be afraid to critique me.
